Element Selector

The element selector tells SoloForces which part of the page to click, type into, or extract. For example, input.form-name targets an <input> with the class form-name.

You can use a CSS Selector or an XPath expression.

Pick an element on the page

If you do not want to write a selector by hand:

  1. In the SoloForces dashboard, click the focus icon in the sidebar, or click Select an element when editing a block.
  2. On the page, click (or press Space) to pick an element.
  3. Confirm the selection. SoloForces fills in a selector for you.

List mode (similar items)

For list rows (product cards, table rows, search results):

  1. Turn on list selection.
  2. Click the first item.
  3. Hover a second similar item and press 2 to refine the row selector.

The picker shows how many elements match. If list mode only matches one element, try another sibling item or adjust the selector.

Exclude

In selector settings you can set an exclude pattern (for example keyword|keyword). When generating a selector, candidates whose id/class/attribute value match the pattern are skipped. Invalid patterns are ignored.

Preview

While picking, you can preview what would be extracted (visible text, HTML, href, src, and so on). This helps when setting up Extract Data columns.

Block selector options

These options appear on blocks that need a selector (for example Click Element and Get Text).

Multiple

Select every element that matches. By default SoloForces uses only the first match.

Mark element

After an element is used, mark it so the same block does not pick it again on the next run. Useful when looping through a list one item at a time.

Wait for selector

Wait until the selector appears. If it never appears before the timeout, the block fails.

Custom selector syntax

Besides standard CSS and XPath, SoloForces supports:

  • iframe-selector |> element-selector — element inside an iframe
    Example: iframe.result |> button.primary-btn
  • :contains(TEXT) — match by text
    Example: p.description:contains("cat")
  • shadow-dom-selector >> element-selector — element inside a shadow DOM
    Example: div.app-container >> h1.title
